special needs strollers

Where in Ontario can I purchase a special needs stroller under $500? It seems they are all imports and cost over a thousand dollars! Are any of these strollers covered by anything?

I have a 45 lb autistic boy, 6 years old high flight risk. I need a stroller, we have been doing serial casting for 2 years and he wears AFO"S. I have disintegrating disc' in my back and cannot carry him.

Is there any funding available for all these things we NEED for our special needs children? His physio also suggests a double board scooter with handle bars...I cannot even locate this let alone imagine the price. Brandon (who is actually my step-grandson who I have been raising since he was 3 months old) is non verbal and does not understand the danger of running into the road, I must be holding him all the time, and he has no fear!!

We do receive ACSD...that being said everyone knows this is peanuts compared to our needs. anyway sorry to go on and on any help or point in the right direction greatly appreciated.

I'm a single mom of 3 beautiful children two of my children my oldest 15 and youngest 3 both have special needs but this is about my youngest he has autism and does not understand the dangers of streets or like to wear socks or shoes to walk so that's not a option and the four of are living off a very small income I can't afford to buy a stroller that would last till he's older it would be a blessing to find one or have help get one

stroller special needs

I am in bc and my son qualified for a program that will cover the cost of a stroller. If you have no coverage it seems you can purchase a new maclaren special needs stroller from the states look at ebay for $500-700 depending on accessories. The cost in Canada seems to be double or triple the cost.

Special needs strollers

I too am looking for a stroller for my autistic child. He is 9 but small for his age. I usually put him in the cart when I go shopping but he is getting to big for it and it makes it hard to put groceries in when he's in there lol. I am a single mom and it's hard to always get someone to watch him. I tried letting him walk but he takes off on me. I could really use a stroller but the prices are just crazy.

Special Needs Strollers

It was my understanding that ACSD will cover the cost of a special needs stroller?

If that doesn't work, check regularly on ZachsList Pediatric Equipment Exchange

Keep checking I got a special tomato jogger stroller for $200.

Good luck!

any response yet?
by: Bev

Im in the same boat so to speak (non-verbal autistic and a huge flight risk). Mine is 3 1/2 years old and weights 48 pounds.I had back surgery over a year and a half ago so he is getting too heavy for me to carry around as well. He has outgrown his stoller so I am also looking for what is the "next" option. Have you found anything yet?
